As we sent off packages at the post office recently, one of the workers approached Peter. He asked Peter if we used to do kids camps. Peter said “Yes, we still do them!” The worker said that he recognized our family and was in our camp 22 years ago!

That was our very first camp we ever did in Ukraine. That man remembered his group leader, the songs we sang, and everything that went on at camp. We have been sending off packages at the same post office for over a year and he just told us he knew us. We were so encouraged and reminded that we may never see the fruit from the seeds that were planted.

Sometimes God is so gracious to allow us to see that what we are doing has a purpose; it motivates us to stay faithful and keep going.

We have a lot coming up and we really need your prayers and financial support!

We have two upcoming humanitarian aid trips planned to the East of Ukraine. Lord willing, we will visit one region on June 8-9 and another region on June 22-23. The people there desperately need help and hope as they are facing things we hope none of us will ever have to experience. Please pray for safety and wisdom on these trips.

Summer camps

We have already started preparing a team and have set dates for two camps!

  • July 26-30 Camp for Widows: This camp is for women who have lost their husbands at war and also for wives/moms of soldiers currently fighting. This will be a very difficult and different camp than usual. Pray for us as we find the right people to serve and that God would prepare the hearts of those who will attend.
  • August 16-20 Women’s Prayer Camp: This camp will look different than normal. We plan to focus on prayer for Ukraine and will be doing different master classes to create things for people living in the East.
  • Day Camps: We also plan to have day camps for refugees. Since a lot of them are elderly, we plan to do 1 day camps where we will bring them in the morning and drive them back at night.

Prayer Requests

As we prepare our team for camps, we are also actively preparing the territory. We’ve had to push camps back to the end of July in order to give us enough time to get everything ready. We have 8 weeks left and a lot of work to do. Here is an overview of some of our bigger projects:

Frame Tent – We have already poured the outer slabs and footings in preparation for the foundation. What we still need to do in order for the tent to be ready for camps:

  • Pour a foundation. We will need to order 7 cement trucks to pour the whole foundation.
  • Run electricity to the tent
  • Install flooring
  • Install A/C

The tent is 80 feet by 40 feet and will hold more than 300 people. The tent will serve multiple purposes. For camps, it will be used as a main gathering place. When it is not being used for camps, we will use it for our humanitarian aid work.

Kitchen and Bathrooms/Showers – The exterior and foundational work is done and we have run electricity to both buildings! We still need the toilets, sinks, and appliances for showers. We also need kitchen appliances.

We realize these are very big and expensive projects. We are solely relying on the Lord’s provision. We know that if we are in His will, He will provide everything that is needed.

Please pray for us as we continue prepping for a busy summer. Pray that we would not grow weary, yet learn to trust and love the Lord more and more everyday.

Thank you all for being with us on this journey and supporting the ministry!

We are so grateful for you,
Peter and Irina Tkachuk
