We have been back in Ukraine for almost a week now. Reflecting back on our time away, we are so thankful for the 3 weeks we could spend in Sacramento. God knew we needed this time with family and friends to encourage and sustain us for further ministry. We appreciate every single hug, conversation, and meeting time spent with each of you. God really lifted our hands through you and we are so grateful.
The war is a huge reality every day. Please continue to pray for the people of Ukraine, for an end to this war, and for our humanitarian aid ministry.
Camps
As summer quickly approaches, we have already started planning and preparing for upcoming ministries. We ask you to please pray for us in these areas:
- Refugees: We are planning a camp for refugees. Our city has become a shelter for thousands of people from the East of Ukraine. We have a desire to do a camp for some of these refugees, specifically for the poorest group of them. For those who aren’t able to afford a comfortable life here. Many of them are living in terrible conditions and desperately need the hope and light of Jesus Christ. Most of them are unbelievers and we ask you to pray for wisdom on how to best love them and bring them to Christ.
- Families Affected by War: We want to offer a camp for families whose husbands/fathers/sons are at war. This group of people especially needs the encouragement and support of the Church through these incredibly tough times.
We understand that these camps will be very difficult and different from what we are accustomed to. We ask you to pray for wisdom as we plan and seek the Lord’s will. Pray that God would gather the right team of people for these camps. It is not always easy to find the right words to say but our prayer is that our team would be able to love well and that through us these people would see Jesus.
Humanitarian Aid Ministry
We continue to pack boxes and send them to people in need in the East of the country. We just received another POD and have already unloaded about 1/3 of it. We plan to unload the rest this weekend and immediately put much of it to use. Since we were gone the last 4 weeks, we have a lot of boxes to send out. Pray that God would continue to provide hands to help and the supplies to disperse.
Construction
Pray for the construction work that is continually going on in at our facility. We have already finished the foundational and exterior work on the kitchen, bathrooms, and showers. We now need to finish all the interior work and purchase the supplies for a functioning kitchen and bathrooms. Our hope and prayer is that we are able to finish the bathrooms and showers by June in order to comfortably accommodate the planned camps.
Looking back to when we got the building, we had no idea what would be happening in our country today. The Lord in His sovereignty knew and has gotten us to this point. He is using this building for things we would have never planned or imagined yet we are so thankful to be a part of His work in Ukraine.
Thank you all for the part you play in Noah’s Ark Missions and the way you have cared for the people of Ukraine. We are so so thankful and blessed.
With much love,
Peter and Irina Tkachuk
